Matta Updates!

These are my best friends who gave me a baby shower on Saturday. I am so thankful to have Lisa, Shay and Jenny and their darling baby girls in my life. Thanks guys!

 This Shay's new baby miss McKay. I finally got to spend some time with her. She was so busy at her blessing a few weeks ago that I didn't get to hold her.

Tate and I got our first Christmas tree this weekend. Tate was so overly excited about getting a tree and decorating it. We went to a mom and pop shop down the street and picked out an excellent five footer.

 Now for the tree trimming!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm so thankful and lucky to have Tate in my life and the promise that we'll be together forever. We love each other so much. He makes me one happy girl!

Thinkin about my Boy

I've been thinking about my little guy a lot lately. What is his name going to be? What will he look like? Green eyes like mine and Tate's? Will he love soccer like his papa or art like his mama? Will he be a go getter like Tate or a fun lover like me? I have all these wonderful ideas and hopes for him. 

I want a healthy, smart and beautiful baby, 

a funny toddler, 

an above average child, 

a polite teenager and 

a successful caring grown up.

Then I have to remember that he is coming here to have his very own journey that will include difficulties and set backs. He'll be the best at something and not so good at something else. He already has his own ideas and has been prepared for the path he will take. I can't wait for baby ( no name yet) to show us who he wants to be.

If he wants to play music - we rent multiple instruments until he finds a match.

If he likes animals - we go to zoo camp every summer.

If he likes science - we get some telescopes and microscopes.

If he likes video games - we get a bike:)

Only 3 months 15 days until he's here!

Finding out about Baby!

I have been wanting to write a post about the baby for awhile. Tate and I are so blessed with this little boy. It is a fun story. Tate and I had been thinking about trying for a baby, thinking it would take at least a few months and by then we would be ready. After two weeks of being off birth control we decided we weren't ready and started taking precautions again. Well you can guess what happened next.....Neither of us thought I could be pregnant but I took a test just to make sure. When I saw the very very very faint line my heart started pounding! I showed Tate in a panic and he said that he didn't think it was positive because you could barely barely see it. I had my doubts too but in my heart I knew. I took another test the next day, ( Father's Day).  I had Tate read the results to me. Both of us were so surprised I don't think either of us remember much of the following 15 minutes or so. I remember a lot of surprised laughter, staring at the test and asking each other, "Are you okay?" Of course we were both extremely happy but in the moment it was pure shock.

I have been thinking about being a mom since I was a little girl playing with baby dolls. Throughout my teenage years I remember wanting to be a mama in the future and wondering about the husband that I would make a baby with. I feel so very blessed to have fallen in love with Tate. If anyone could know Tate the way I do they would understand what I mean. He truly LOVES me for who I am. He is so supportive and after a hard day I find myself wanting to go home into his arms. My happiness is his goal in life. ( Now I'm crying ha ha) Not to mention he is handsome, athletic and very smart. Not bad genes if I do say so myself.

I feel so very blessed and thankful for this opportunity to be a mom. Even though he isn't here yet, from the day I found out he was coming I have wanted to protect him and give him everything and every opportunity. I know every new mom feels this way. I think about him all the time and how I want to:

Teach him to say "please and thank you"

Watch him play soccer with Tate

Take him to the pet store and let him pick out some weird exotic animal and then end up taking care of it myself.

Be the person he hides behind to when he meets somebody new.

Watch him learn to walk

But mostly i just want to hold him when he's born and shield him from those bright lights:)

Canada

A few weeks ago we went to Canada with our friends Aaron an Megan. We spent the night in Toronto, had breakfast and walked around the city.

After, we drove to the famous Niagra Falls. On our way there Crew was barking and growling at this statue. It was pretty funny to watch.

As we came within 20 feet of the railing overlooking the falls, the water started coming down like rain and got us completely wet. The falls were definately worth seeing!

We go to Chicago

Hey everybody! Want to see some pics from our trip to Chicago last weekend?

 Saw some fireworks on the 4th. Tate's favorite thing:)

We went to the top of the Sear's tower. ( Now "Willis" tower)

We also went swimming in Lake Michigan and got some SHAVE ICE afterward!
