This week has been pretty low key. Tate is working hard and having fun at Ford. Crew is doing well, still chasing little creatures like they are his only chance at dinner.
Tate and I are a really classy couple. We look forward to watching the Bachelorette every Monday night. This week we also decided to try the famous Michigan Coney. This is a hot dog with chili, onions and mustard on it. There is a Coney Island restaurant on every corner.
Super tasty and healthy....
This weekend we also visited the Detroit Institute of Art. We really enjoyed this museum and found many treasures including this Monet painting. Only my favorite artist ever. I felt so blessed to run upon this.
In other news Tate and I were called to be Ward Missionaries today. We are so excited to be missionaries in Detroit and I feel lucky to have Tate help me because he is so good at this type of thing!

The people here are honest!!!
Okay story time first.....
I believe in Karma. 100%. Tate and I left the dog park and stopped and got ice cream before we went into the city of Ann Arbor. Great ice cream cones and we left. Had a great time in the city and drove an hour back to Dearborn. Just as we are getting off the freeway I got a phone call from the Gold's Gym in Logan. They tell me that someone in Michigan found my purse with my wallet and keys inside. The only way to get a hold of me was to call the number on my gym card and have them call my cell phone. Good thing I had my phone. So we drove the hour or so back to retrieve my purse.
Then.....
Later that night we are asleep in bed. 4:30 A.M. There is this tapping noise that wakes me up. I'm thinking gun shots. Then a loud knocking on our door. Crew goes crazy barking and growling. Tate gets up to answer the door and I tell him to definately not answer it. But the knocking and tapping continued so Tate answered the door. All I heard from the bedroom was Tate open the door and say "oh my gosh" in a startled tone. Then I hear the man at the door saying something about keys. So i'm thinking great were getting robbed and they want our keys or something. So I just sit frozen on the bed and try to decide whether I should hide in the closet or not. I'm worthless in emergencies. I've always known his about myself. Next thing I know Tate says "Thank You" shuts the door and comes in the bedroom holding my car keys. Turns out I left them in the door when came I in the house earlier and our kind neighbors were looking out for us by letting us know. I was so annoyed that I did that, especially after I lost my purse hours earlier. Tate just says, " good thing there are honest people out there to look after you." I then told him that I want to get tested for early onset Alzheimers Disease. I sat awake in the living room for the next half hour freaked out. Zombie style. Oh yeah the tapping sound was just the door knocker:)
This week has been full of good things! Tate has been learning a lot and working really hard at Ford. I'm STILL looking for a job, playing with crew and looking into some graduate programs. Here are some highlights from the week.
- There is another couple from Utah that are out here for the husband's internship as well. They went to BYU and live in the same ward as us here in Michigan. We did a BBQ at their house on Monday which was super fun. The wife Megan and I also went to see the Hunger Games movie this week. Can't get enough that book. (Thanks to Eric for giving us those books on tape for the drive out here!)
- Tate has so been looking forward to seeing Snow White and the Huntsman. We went with our new friends Megan and Aaron last night. I would recommend it to anybody. I fell asleep a little bit during it but I still really liked it. Super good summer movie!!
- Made some good progress on the Wedding Thank You cards.
Some Pictures from the Dog Park
Ann Arbor
Ann Arbor is really hip city and we were glad to be there for the day. Ann Arbor is of course home to the University of Michigan. Tate tells me they have a great football team. It was fun to see the campus!
This is downtown. I'm standing in front of some really great shops and restaurants. Sorry we didn't get a better view of them.
I'm really missing my job and my students this week. Luckily they made me this darling bag!
