Lots of Pictures!

Hey Everybody! We are having so much fun in Michigan. Tate and I are so proud of our little guy Crew for learning how to swim yesterday. Tate and Crew were playing fetch with a stick. Tate threw the stick far out into the lake. Crew went for it and MAGIC! Crew is a swimmer. We knew he could do it. He had so much fun in water.

Tate and I also had a great time. The lake was beautiful. It was so relaxing to be together and take in the view.

We also did the Race for the Cure on Saturday. I really wanted to do the one in Salt Lake City until I came down with the cold to end all colds. Seeing downtown Detroit was so awesome. Such a cool old city. There were thousands of people walking around wearing pink. We were able to join the Ford team and sport some pretty great t-shirts.

I was so proud to walk in memory of my Aunt Tenley who passed away in 2009. She battled with breast cancer for years until it came back in her bones and liver. She was so brave throughout her whole journey. A total of 13 years with cancer. She left her husband and beautiful little girl here. I love them and am so proud of them.

We miss her so much. Tate walked in memory of his Grandma Rose who passed away in 1996. I have heard so many wonderful things about this woman. It sounds like she was one of those angels on the earth.

I married a single dad. Tate adopted Crew from the Humane Society about a year and a half ago.  Crew is a 2 year old flat coat retriever but according to my research I suspect he has a little bit of Irish setter as well. Crew goes by many names at home including Custard Crew, Stage Crew, Shish Crew Bob, Montley Crew, buddy, pal and Ricco ( his name at the Humane Society).

Grandpa Dan nicknamed him "Chew" because he had is puppy teething moments however, he has been really good lately. I think he gets anxious when Tate leaves and especially when we leave together. Crew had a chewing set back on Easter when he got into an Easter basket that Cristi gave to us. He ate all the chocolate in the basket, tinfoil included. He also enjoyed lots of Swedish fish and almost two bags of Cadbury Eggs. I wanted to take him to the dog hospital. Thankfully Tate talked me down from that idea because Crew was just fine. Since then he has just gotten into some paper towels, party hats, birth control pills and Tate's bike helemet.

He has done a great job transitioning to our new home. My favorite thing happened on our road trip. When Crew rode in Tate's car he would always stick his head out the window as we were exiting the freeway and look back at my car. I like to think it was checking to make sure I was coming. So cute.

There are so many squirrels around our apartment. Crew is just mesmerized by these creatures. When he sees one he stands still as a statue until he either gets to chase it up a tree or gets tugged away by either Tate or I.

We sure love this guy although I think we need to encourage him to use his self control because I found him on the bed look pretty comfy this morning. ( He's not really supposed to be on the bed but he gets mixed messages from Tate and I on that rule. I guess I'm the one who needs to use self control.)

Michigan: Here We Are!

Hello friends and family! Well here we are in Dearborn, Michigan. We began our adventure on Wednesday morning and drove all day through Wyoming and into Nebraska. We spent the night and were off again. On Thursday we crossed through Nebraska and Iowa. Finally on Friday we passed through Indiana and Illinois and then into our new home of Michigan. Yes, we honked our horns as we crossed each state line. Our puppy Crew was a wonderful traveler. He took turns in each of our cars. We were so glad to have him to keep us company. He also got special treatment both of the nights we stayed in motels. He was allowed to come up on the bed. It was so fun to have the whole family cuddling together!

Tate will be doing a Human Resources internship at Ford Motor Company. This is such a great opportunity for him and will be valuable on his resume. I am so proud of him for setting educational and professional goals and for meeting them the way he does. I know he will do great work and make great connections. Hopefully in the near future he will write a post and tell you all about his experience.

As for me, I am still looking for a job. Hopefully I will find something to keep me busy. Meanwhile I will be getting all the wedding Thank You cards out. I also have high hopes for training Crew. I am going to study up on the best strategies for dog training. Crew obeys Tate really well however he needs some work with me. I also have a goal to read the Book of Mormon while we are here in Michigan. I am also preparing to take the GRE here soon and possibly apply to a few Masters Degree Programs. More details to follow.
